Whether you have private dental insurance, coverage through an employer, or are enrolled in the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), we're committed to helping you maximize your benefits while providing the high-quality dental care you deserve.

Direct Insurance Billing

To help make your visit more convenient, Gumtree Dental Care offers direct billing (assignment of benefits) to most major dental insurance providers whenever your plan allows.

Direct billing means we can electronically submit your insurance claim on your behalf, reducing the amount you may need to pay at your appointment.

Please note:

Direct billing is offered as a courtesy whenever available.
Insurance companies determine your coverage. We do not.
Depending on your plan, you may be responsible for deductibles, co-payments, or services that are not covered.
Any remaining balance is the patient’s responsibility.

Our administrative team will gladly explain your estimated coverage before treatment whenever possible.

Understanding Your Dental Insurance

Every dental insurance plan is different.

Your benefits may include:

Annual maximum coverage
Percentage of coverage for preventive, restorative, or major procedures
Frequency limits for exams, cleanings, and X-rays
Waiting periods for certain treatments
Deductibles or co-payments

While we're happy to help estimate your benefits, the final determination of coverage is made by your insurance provider. We encourage patients to become familiar with their dental plan so there are no surprises regarding coverage or out-of-pocket costs.

We Follow the Ontario Dental Association Fee Guide

Gumtree Dental Care follows the current Ontario Dental Association (ODA) Suggested Fee Guide. This helps ensure transparent, fair, and consistent fees for the dental services we provide.

If your insurance plan reimburses based on a different fee guide or a previous year's schedule, there may be a balance that is not covered by your insurer.

Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

We are pleased to welcome patients who are eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).

If you’re enrolled in the CDCP, our team can help you understand:

Which treatments may be covered
Any potential co-payments or patient portions
How your benefits work
What to bring to your appointment

Treatment Estimates & Pre-Authorizations

For more extensive dental treatment, we can submit a pre-treatment estimate (pre-authorization) to your insurance provider.

This allows you to:

Better understand your expected insurance coverage
Estimate your out-of-pocket expenses
Make informed decisions about your treatment

Please note that pre-authorizations are estimates only and final reimbursement is determined by your insurance company.

Payment for any portion not covered by insurance is due at the time of your appointment unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

Will my insurance cover my treatment?

Coverage depends entirely on your individual insurance plan. Our team will gladly submit claims and help estimate your benefits, but your insurance provider makes the final coverage decision.

Do I need to pay upfront?

If your insurance supports direct billing, you'll typically only pay the portion not covered by your plan. If direct billing is unavailable, payment is required at your appointment, and we'll provide the necessary information for you to submit your claim.

What if I don't have dental insurance?

We welcome patients without insurance. Before beginning treatment, we'll discuss your options and provide clear cost estimates so you can make informed decisions about your oral health.
